London Special: Places to be and to stay!
London – always worth a visit! The best: Even though you may have been there a couple of times, you will always find new places and locations that fascinates you. Here is our list of places, galleries, museums, restaurants, hotels… from our last trip we can warmly recommend.
Places to visit:
The Flask Walk, Hempstead: An area of London where you walk around and experience restaurants, shops, almost England years ago.
The Photographers Gallery: „Wow photographs“ – and tasty carrot muffin…
…or some Dim Sum for the Asian cuisine lovers round the corner: Ping Pong. Tip: instead of ordering dish by dish, try the daily menu – it is more reasonable.
Tate Britain: Late Turner – maybe you should buy a ticket in advance to stand not in line for an hour to get in. The explanations in every room are worth reading and give you a good feeling about the emotions and motivations of William Turner. Exhibition until 25 January 2015.
Royal Academy of Arts: Actual exhibitions Jones / Kiefer. Enter the RA through Piccadilly and if you go up the stairs William Turner as a statue will welcome you on the right hand side. Do not miss to look at the ceiling and catch a glimpse of the building itself. From the entrance from Burlington Gardens you get to the exhibition of Allen Jones. We all have seen some of the sculptures that he figured and now you get a full retrospective of its oeuvre.
Pimlico: Food from all over England. Lobster to honey, whatever your wish is. Opening hours Sat. 09-13 / Sun 11:30 – 14:30.
Old Spitalfield Market: Thursday = Antiques + Vintage 9 to 17:00 /Friday = Fashion + Art 10 to 16:00/ Saturday = Themed 11 to 17:00
New upcoming quarter – a kind of Camden, but not as commercial, the area around is worth to walk through and find further markets, restaurants, shops…
Not far: Artwords Bookstore, 69 Rivington St. Take your time to forage for books and magazines which most ordinary bookshops wont cover.

Walk up Rivington St. and find Bottega Prelibato. Book a table to sit in this cosy atmosphere and enjoy some good food.

Tramshed: Something special, huge but you have not seen before how they serve chicken. Anyway, chicken and steak is the recommendation. And I am sure you take a picture of the cow and the cock. Claridges: Afternoon Tea. Yes, not cheap, but the only way to experience this English tradition in perfection. The atmosphere – priceless. By the way – ever seen a Dolce & Gabbana Christmas tree – Dec. 2014 there it is. Leave the hotel to the right and stop in one of the galleries or buy an extraordinary table book at Assouline. You also find them in Harrods. Not enough, well around the corner in Avery Row you get a fine dinner at La Petite Maison.
Underground: Oystercard, buy one and move unobstructed through and with Londons #1 transport system. You choose the amount you charge it with. Super easy to use.
